Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) provides housing, case management, meals, and supportive resources to homeless and very low-income women in downtown Los Angeles. DWC offers women the resources they need to reconnect with their sense of self and meet personal goals that have become lost in the day-to-day struggle for survival on the streets.

TZONE funded their Drop-In Day Center which provides case management, peer support groups, counseling, healthcare, and education/pre-employment activities on a drop-in basis to 2,000 women annually.

Girls in the Game (GIG) is dedicated to enhancing the physical, mental and emotional health and well-being of girls by providing sport and fitness opportunities, health and nutrition education, as well as leadership and life-skills development.

 

TZONE provided general operating funds to support GIG's work with teen girls.

Ifetayo Cultural Arts is a community-based arts and cultural organization dedicated to strengthening youth and families of African descent in the Brooklyn borough. Ifetayo’s programs help youth successfully transition to adulthood by setting life goals, developing communication and academic skills, thereby gaining confidence in themselves and improving their decision-making.

TZONE funded Sisters in Sisterhood, a Rites of Passage program designed to prepare young women ages 13-21 for adulthood by building their intellectual, emotional and leadership capacities through completion of a rigorous curriculum that culminates in a trip abroad.

Lower Eastside Girls Club provides programs and activities for girls and young women ages 8-25 that build ethical, entrepreneurial and environmental leadership, teach critical thinking skills and encourage positive actions.

TZONE provided funding for the Girls Club’s Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds Program that supports physical, mental, emotional and academic fitness through events like Girls Night Out, a monthly health and wellness program, youth-led Community Farmers Market and The Girls Congress of New York that annually convenes 500 girls from schools and communities across NYC.

Sadie Nash Leadership Project (SNLP) is a leadership development program for young women ages 14-25 in New York City. To address the under-representation of women leaders, young women from across all five boroughs of the city are provided with opportunities to analyze accepted leadership models, explore the nature of leadership, and envision themselves as leaders.

Through various service-learning programs and Nash University, participants increase their self-esteem, improve their self-image, learn to think critically about womanhood, identity, and sexuality and, ultimately, learn to become agents of social change in their communities. TZONE provided general operating support to SNLP.

Women and Youth Supporting Each Other (WYSE) is a national mentoring organization and project of Community Partners that pairs college-aged women with middle-school girls in a structured, yearlong mentoring program. Currently operating thirteen branches at twelve universities nationwide, WYSE strengthens the lives and communities of women and girls of color through a curriculum based, group and one-on-one mentorship program that addresses the myriad of issues that can contribute to disempowerment. TZONE provided general operating support to WYSE.

Young Chicago Authors encourages self-expression and literacy among Chicago youth through creative writing, performance and publication. YCA provides student-centered, artist-led workshops free to youth ages 13 – 19 in schools and communities. Their process emphasizes artistic development, mentorship, and creating safe spaces where a young person’s life matters. YCA believes that through their words, young people can promote tolerance and remove barriers to transform their lives and society.

TZONE funded their GirlSpeak program, a discussion, writing, and performance program for high school aged young women. Using writing as a gateway to explore, discuss, and exchange ideas on feminism, power, body image, street harassment, and other issues, the program gives girls a voice to address gender issues.
